What is Library Reference Work?

Library reference work is a library service that mainly takes place at the reference desk where professional librarians provide library users with direction to library materials, advise on library services and assist users to find general information from the library’s resources. But reference work is not mere giving directions. Reference librarians also work on sophisticated information tasks that demand deep research and require thorough knowledge of information sources and tools.
